Finally, Samsung and HTC got their tickets to update their flagship smartphones to the latest version of Google's Android OS, 4.4 KitKat. But the update is only applicable to the Google Play Editions (GPE) of both devices. That is the users still have to use the same Jelly Bean version in normal Galaxy S4 and HTC One pieces.
Thank God, at least the GPE versions have been updated to the latest Android version of these biggies and this is the most highlighting feature of the GPE gadgets.
Google Nexus 5 was the first to run on KitKat. Later, the other Nexus products – Nexus 4, Google Nexus 7, and Google Nexus 10 got the update. Then, Google's own Motorola's Moto X and Moto G got the same. Now, the S4 and the One are into the list.
Soon, KitKat will be powering the high-end gadgets of Sony in the Xperia league namely Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z, and Xperia Tablet Z. LG G2 and G Pad 8.3 will also go for the same. Last but not least, Huawei's Ascend P6 and the upcoming Ascend P6S will get the latest version of Android as well.
