The smartphone sports a 5 inch Oncell AMOLED display with a fabric textured rear cover. The slim and stylish phone measures just 6.8mm width and weighs 120 gms, which is super-light when considering the weight of the recently released handsets.
Eluga Z is powered by 1.4 GHz Octa core processor bundled with 2 GB RAM and runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The eluga Z comes with Panasonic's Fit Home UI. According to which the company boasts that even single hand operations are possible.
The phone also features a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front one with various settings including the Fade Mop functionality therefore guaranteeing a good overall shutter experience. The Fade Mop function allows the users to add Blur Effect on the background details on the picture by editing the already snapped images.
The battery capacity isn't very promising with the 2050 mAH removable Lithium Polymer one.
The phone supports various 21 Indian regional languages and the connectivity features include USB OTG support which allows the phone to access media through Pen-drive or Hard-Drive. Other additions include Wi-Fi Direct and Bluetooth 4.0 with EDR, GPS/A-GPS etc. A flip cover, protective case and screen guard is also in the box.
Several gesture based functions such as Double Tap to Lock/Unlock, Smart swipe functionality are also integrated. Smart swipe simply refers to the functionality which enables the users to perform various functions with a combination of number of fingers and direction of swipe. When coming to the sensors part, the phone includes ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, e-compass and accelerometer.
During its launch in India the MD of Panasonic India has said that the phone offers greater functionality and design which is clubbed with applications and technology that will answer the needs of the customers. Let's hope that this word is kept.

Overall the phone looks classy with its metal frame design and fabric-textured rear back cover. The removable battery is an added advantage. Nothing extra ordinary about the internals except for the Fit Home UI and various hand gesture features. What we think is that the phone could have done well below or around a 10K price tag, it is a bit high for the phone which also doesn’t support 4 G network. Otherwise it is definitely an ideal phone.
