The highlight of course is on the dual rear cameras. Each of them are said to be featuring 13 MP and a 2 MP which is supported by depth-sensing feature which provides the user with the luxury of finding the dimensions of a real-life object in an instant by pointing at it and also allows refocusing of the already clicked pictures. The super quick Auto-focus quality of the camera is also much talked about. The dual rear cameras with a 13 MP and 2 MP depth sensors sounds so much like HTC one devices. The rear cameras are complemented along with a 2 MP front facing camera with flash. The UbiFocus feature lets you change focus after capturing the image. The focusing time for the camera is 0.15 seconds. The device is also equipped with Photo studio app from Adobe and an OptiZoom to improve the quality of digital zoom.
The design and build looks sleek and stunning with curved corners and smooth edges. The rear flaunts a glossy look making it more attractive. The rear also features the dual camera with the LED flash lying in between. Xolo Black flaunts a 5.5 inch full HD display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080p. Black comes with a thickness of 7.3mm and the screen is protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3, both on the front and rear as well. The Oleophobic coating safeguards the phone from smudges and stains.
Device is power-driven by 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor and the Adreno 405 GPU along with 2 GB RAM. The storage facilities include 16 GB internal storage option and an external one which is expandable upto 32 GB via Micro SD cards. The supported OS is Android 5.0 Lollipop which is layered with Xolo's updated home UI version- Hive.
Apart from the exclusive sales partnership, Xolo has also made a deal with Vodafone. According to the deal, Xolo Black smartphone will be on display at selected Vodafone stores across India which gives the user the opportunity of analyzing the phone before they click on the 'Buy now' button in FlipKart. As an add-on, the Vodafone users who buy this smartphone will be gifted with 1 GB of free data per month for a period of two months or unlimited music download from Vodafone's Music app. Now that's a good idea for sales promotion!!
Talking about the connectivity features the dual SIM Xolo Black supports 4G LTE, 3G, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. Micro-USB 2.0 with USB OTG functionality is also featured. Equipped with a 3,200 mAh battery the handset guarantees a better power backup, which is indeed aided with the Quick Charge 1.0. Xolo Black features a hybrid dual-SIM slot where the second SIM card slot acts up also as a Micro SD card slot.
Our View
The Xolo manufacturers during the launch has commented that this smartphone will definitely cater to the digitally-smart users of this era with its features. What we think is that the Snapdragon 615 installed devices has always been complained of over-heating issues as in Xiaomi. In fact the Black is being equipped with one, and manufacturers has talked about this issue as well thus promising that the heating worries will be taken care of.
Of course the dual cameras helps you to focus more and hope the picture quality too is good. The updated Hive UI is an extra feature that makes users apprehensive enough to try it out for themselves. The Gorilla Glass 3 along with Oleophobic coating leaves us with the question of how slippery the phone will be. In short nothing much to rant about, so make sure you witness a demo of the device before you actually buy it.
