Umi Hammer all the way from China to India for the first time.

The Indian smartphone market has always left its doors wide open for foreign OEM's to introduce and launch their devices in this market. Its last week that Elephone along with a couple of other vendors entered the Indian smartphone scenario and today it is Umi with Umi Hammer. Therefore UMI becomes the 11th Chinese consumer electronics company to enter India. India now supports Xiaomi, Lenovo, Phicomm, Coolpad, Meizu, ZTE (& subsidiary Nubia), Huawei (& subsidiary Honor), Vivo, Oppo, Elephone and now Umi.



The Umi Hammer is made from aviation alloy and sports a thickness of 4.3 mm. The phone definitely is a beast as the name suggests and is supposed to be the strongest phone so far. The new NANO technology guarantees lightness and toughness. The rear of the Hammer features poly carbonate material which gives a soft and smooth texture that makes you get a better hold. It measures 144x71.6x7.9mm and weighs 168 grams.

The phone sports a 5 inch dual glass HD IPS display with an extra layer of Gorilla Glass protection to protect the phone from scratches and bruises. The Aluminum frame makes it even more durable. The phone is stored in with features that improves the performance. Hammer is built with quick access to all the apps, the screen also lasts longer, for instance- it allows you to skip to the next song even without unlocking the screen.

The dual-SIM phone is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek (MT6732)64-bit processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and Mali-T760 GPU. The Umi Hammer comes with 16GB of inbuilt storage, which is further expandable via micro SD card up to 64 GB. The device runs on Android 4.4 KitKat. Sources suggests that 4.4 OS can be upgraded to 5.0 Lollipop.


The device flaunts a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash and a 3.2 MP front snapper. The back lens are crafted in a CNC aluminum socket and with dual LED flash the camera helps in equal distribution of light in pictures. Hammer can certainly produce good quality selfies with the low light capability features and f/2.2 aperture lens.

The connectivity options include 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Micro-USB, and Bluetooth. The company claims that the handset supports 4G LTE; though it doesn't support India's primary 4G LTE band (TDD-LTE 2300 MHz).

The smartphone packs a 2250mAh battery and is listed in Black and White colours. It ropes in accelerometer, ambient light sensor, magnetometer, and proximity sensor. The separate GPS sensor picks in 35% more signals and thereby gives you most accurate positioning. The HOTKNOT feature allows the users to transfer data without a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. All you need to do is touch Hammer phone screen to another phone to start the process. There you go, transfer all the music and pictures with a touch.
