Samsung foldable display smartphone to be available by January 2016

A foldable smartphone from Samsung may soon become a reality.

The South Korean smartphone giant, Samsung has always been at the zenith when it comes to innovation. It was way back in 2010 that the company had introduced to the world the “AMOLED” display, thus placing them much ahead of its competitors. The company has not stopped offering progressive pieces of technology thereafter. The coming years have witnessed several novel ideas and the latest of them being the dual-edge curved display of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and Edge Plus. We are quite sure that Samsung would never ever stop innovating and that is what made us to believe the speculations regarding a soon to be released foldable display smartphone by the company.

Sources suggests that the project has been code-named as Project Valley and the device is currently going through several tests. It seems that the handset is being tested with two software configurations- one with Snapdragon 620 processor and the other with Snapdragon 820 chipset. January 2016 will be the launching time as per the rumors. The handset will also be sporting a 3GB of RAM, a micro SD card slot and a non-removable battery. Apparently tweaks says that the soon to be unveiled Galaxy S7 will be coming in two variants- one with a Snapdragon 820 SoC, and the other with Exynos 8890 processor.

Nevertheless the masses will be certainly excited to see the company's foldable display as it could be a revolutionary turning point of technology. Apparently the device in discussion will be like a test-bed for the Snapdragon 820 chipset.

Another tipster says that the foldable screen will be featured on a textile-like material which will be held together with tensile springs. A few other mechanisms gets the foldable screen straight and tight when the clamshell is opened. Some other rumors hints that the device may be build in a way that can be opened like a laptop. With this design the company will be employing a different hinge mechanism and an elastic unit to keep the screen straight.

Looks like Samsung is experimenting on different possibilities to offer us the technology at its best. We are obvious that you too will be eagerly waiting for the device just like us. Stay tuned in as we will be updating more on this as soon as we get hold of more information.
