The Huawei Honor 7 flaunts a 5.2-inch full HD display with a screen resolution of 1080x1920 pixels and with a pixel density of 423ppi. The Android 5.0 Lollipop based handset will be powered by the company's own 64-bit octa-core Kirin 935 processor (four Cortex-A53 cores at 2.2GHz + four Cortex-A53 at 1.5GHz) clubbed with 3GB of RAM and ARM's Mali-T628 GPU. The 16 GB of internal storage can be expanded up to 128 GB via a micro SD card. The OS has been layered with EMUI 3.1 on top. Huawei promises to roll out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Honor 7 by February 2016.
The rear features a 20 MP autofocus camera with phase detection. The camera is equipped with a Sony IMX230 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, 6-lens module, dual-LED flash, and sapphire glass protection on top. An 8-megapixel front-facing 26-mm wide-angle fixed focus camera with an f/2.4 aperture and a flash module is also on board. The rear also houses in a fingerprint sensor which said to read fingerprints in a record time of 0.5 seconds. On the connectivity front the handset supports 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz/5GHz), Bluetooth 4.1 LE, GPS.
The Huawei Honor 7 is backed by a 3100mAh battery which supports quick charging feature that charges up the smartphone from zero to full in a total of 1 hour and 25 minutes and from empty to half percent charge in 30 minutes. The Honor 7 comes with a reverse charging feature that allows users to charge other devices using the smartphone. The dimensions of the smartphone comes up to 143.2x71.9x8.5mm and weighs 157 grams.
The Honor 7 even sports a hardware key that can be customized to open specific apps based on a single press, long press or double press. With this UI, you will be able to capture a screenshot by double tapping on the screen. Mystery Gray and Fantasy Silver are the available color options. The handset even comes with a dedicated button at the side called Honor Smart Key which can be used as a panic button. The SOS feature has been developed by the Huawei R&D team in Bengaluru to aid local needs. The hardware integrated SOS feature can trigger an SMS to the desired contacts, can even sound a loud siren to alert nearby people for help and guarantees to provide accurate location by considering GPS as well as the cell tower location.
