Leaving no room behind, Sony unveiled its flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013, in Las Vegas, US. The device will be competing with Samsung's much awaited Galaxy S4 and Apple's iPhone 5. Unveiling of new flagship smartphones and pending list of upcoming high-end gadgets which are to be come out turn it to be the year of smartphones.
Since the very origin of the Japanese firm, Sony, it has been known for its stunning display quality. The lately revealed Xperia Z is no different. It comes with a 5-inch Mobile Bravia Engine 2 touchscreen with a never ending proportional resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The pixel density of the gadget is 443 ppi. Sony also ensures necessary protection to the display with scratch-resistant and shatter proof sheet on mineral glass. It defines that the display is far better than the Super AMOLED screen.
Thanks to the 13 MP Exmor RS rear camera with LED flash. It offers improved low light performance. The gadget also promises HDR video recording of 1080p too. This will be much handy for camera freaks. The front camera also doesn't disappoints. A 2.2 MP secondary camera is more than enough for video calling.
The gadget is run by Google's lately launched operating system, Android v4.1 Jelly Bean. It will be updated to Android v4.2 Jelly Bean once the updation comes from Google. For smartphones, a good processor is a must, because playing games are not just fun on smartphones but a part of culture. Sony recognizes it and the Xperia Z is powered by a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, which is aided by a RAM of 2 GB.
It never dissatisfies whoever wishes to save more data in their personal mobile. It has got a useful 16 GB internal flash storage, which can be further expanded up to 32 GB using a micro SD card. Additionally, its data and other connectivity bring it to be the next generation smartphone. A-GPS, Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi, 3.5 mm audio jack, HDMI out and Micro USB are some of them.
The highlight of the Xperia Z is its water resistant (IP55) and dust proof (IP57) feature. Doesn't matter if it is raining or desert storm, the device is protected hard. Another stunning speciality of the product is its 2330 mAh standard Li-on battery that holds the machine up to 23 days stood by. It also offer a talk time period up to 11 hours. To increase the battery life, Sony has enabled 'Stamina mode'.
Sony Xperia Z is expected to be launched in Q1. That means, it will be appeared within the month of March 2013. The gadget may be tagged a price around Rs.40,000. Then it would be a strong competition between Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy S4, Apple iPhone 5, HTC Droid DNA, LG Optimus G2 and Google Nexus 5.
