BlackBerry Unveiled Entry Level Smartphone – BlackBerry Q5

BlackBerry Q5 has been unveiled. Read here the preview of BlackBerry Q5.

BlackBerry Live 2013 has been taking place at Orlando World Centre Marriott, Florida on May 14th to 16th. While the tech world keenly watching it, the company has dramatically introduced the long rumoured BlackBerry Q5. the Q5 can be rightly called the small brother of Q10, but of course, a scaled down version in both the specs and the price. The device will be having the design of the BlackBerry Curve phones. The BB Q5 will be having the QWERTY key pad, just like that of the Q10, but you will find the premium buttons vanished. The buttons on the Q5 are rather flatter. Obviously less polished than that of the Q10 model.

Design:

As we said above, the BB Q5 looks like BB Q10 in its appearance, but one can easily point out the cheapness in Q5. The screen display is the same for both the devices. Both of them have 720×720 pixel resolution. But unlike BBQ10, Q5 uses LCD display. The BB Q10 has AMOLED display.

There is a major difference in the keyboard of these two phones. The BB Q5 has, as we said earlier, a less polished segmented keypad. The keys are noticeably flatter than those on the Q10, and the feel of the keyboard is not nearly as nice as the more expensive model. The Q5 is made with shiny, glossy plastic, which is far away from the premium build of the BB Q10.

The plus point in the design of the BB Q5 is that, the device allows some space between the screen and the key board, which allows the user slide the finger around without fear of pressing any keys. That means that the BB Q5 is longer than BB Q10. Its a bit chunky too. But the company has succeeded in decreasing the weight of the phone. So, it is not over burdened with unwanted weight.

On the top central portion, there is the head phone jack and the power/lock key. Hitting the key will not be easier for a small/normal handed person. It will be a bit tricky for the beginners. On the right side of the phone, there is the volume control rocker, just as in the BB Q10. There is a third switch in between the volume rocker, there is the short curt key to voice commands.

On the left side of the phone, there is the microUSB port, but the device is missing an HDMI port. On the left side itself, there is microSD card slot and SIM card slot. Both are protected with plastic flaps.

The rear side of the BB Q5 is non removable. That means, there is no way you can change the battery of the phone. The BB Q5 has a non removable battery.
