Huawei Ascend P2 Review.

Here is all that you wanna know about Huawei Ascend P2 Smartphone.

Huawei Ascend P2 smartphone is otherwise known as the world's fastest smartphone till date. What could be reason? Of course the credit should be given to the processor. The smartphone was introduced to the world in the Mobile World Congress of 2013. the smartphone has been marketed ever since as the fastest LTE phone with a support for 150 Mbps download speed.

The Huawei Ascend P2 is not a high end smartphone which we can place amongst the Samsung Galaxy S4 or the HTC One or the Sony Xperia Z smartphones. On the other hand, it is a mid ranged smartphone with a jaw dropping spec sheet. The quad core processor,4.7 inch display, 13 MP rear camera, the slimmy outlook and the compactness are the highlights of this smartphone. Let's go through a detailed analysis of the major features of the Ascend P2 smartphone.

Huawei Ascend P2

The design of the Ascend P2 smartphone is nothing complicated. But it is really charming. The beauty of the simplicity is the key feature of the design of the smartphone. Ascend P2 has a place there. With a sleek build, the smartphone gives an elegant look. It feels premium to hold in your pretty hands. There is no doubt that the device will impress both the genders.

Though the material with which the smartphone is made of might not impress all of us, the plastic surface fights off finger prints very nicely. We have to admit that the smartphone looks good, but when you touch it, you might feel the material as a quite ordinary one, nothing unique. There is a slight curve at the back of the smartphone, which makes it easier to hold. But the drawback of such a design is that it will make operating the volume and the power key a bit trickier. Especially with one hand, it would be difficult, we should say. Though it is not that a serious issue, it is something we cannot ignore.

As in every android device, the Home, Back and the Menu buttons are there at the bottom of the screen. So, there are no unique design changes in the smartphone. Yet it looks premium and elegant.

The smartphone comes with a 4.7 inches LCD touchscreen display screen. It has a resolution of 720×1280 pixels. The screen is features by a stunning pixel density of 315 ppi. That means, there will not be any visible pictures in the screen. The colour, brightness and the clarity are well preserved and give the screen an above average pass mark. The unique feature of the screen is the Glove Mode, toggling which on will make the screen extra sensitive and can be operated with gloves on the hand.

Operating System and Interface:

The Huawei Ascend P2 is running on Android 4.1.2 operating system. It is supported by Huawei's Emotion UI 1.5 user interface. The one speciality of this UI is that it gives a wide room for customisation. It brings with it a bunch of personalisation features. It has several UI themes, ranging from colourful and cartoonish to business like and simple. The lock scree and the screen transition animations can be chosen by the user himself. The wall paper can be set to shuffle randomly at selected intervals.

Even the notification bar is customisable. There are so many customising features coming with the Huawei Ascend P2 smartphone. There are two different kinds of on screen key boards too. The first one is obviously the Android key board, which we are very much used to. The next one is the key board from Huawei itself. It provides buttons which are more easy to hit. It also provides a bunch of symbols, which we can just swipe down and insert.

Processor and memory:

Unlike the other Android smartphones, Huawei has its own K3V2 SoC in its Ascend P2 smartphone. When it is coupled with 1.5GHz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM, the smartphone becomes the fastest smartphone of this price range. Navigation through the UI is smooth, every day tasks are performed faster, showing lagging only when we switch from one heavy app to another heavy one. Even the latest 3D games run smoothly.

The Huawei Ascend P2 has 1 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage memory. Considering the fastest processor, the RAM could have been increased further so that there would not have been any lagging even when you switch between two heavy apps. Unfortunately, the smartphone does not have a microSD card slot either. It is a drawback of course, as the present generation use a lot of storage space, the company should have included an expandable memory too.

Internet and connectivity:

The Huawei Ascend P2 smartphone comes packed with all the possibly connectivity options. The bunch includes Wi – Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, GPRS, EDGE, SPEED, USB, NFC and GPS.

You will be more or less mesmerised at the speed at which the camera app is getting launched in an Ascend P2 smartphone. There is a dedicated camera button on the device, which makes it easier to click snaps. There is a 13 MP rear camera and a 1.3 MP front camera in the smartphone. Though there is an HDR option for both the photos and videos, it is not that much a polished one, we should warn you.

Battery life:

With a 2420 mAh battery, the smartphone will you 12 hours of talk time on 3G, which not that bad. The battery life of a smartphone depends up on the tasks for which it is used. On an average usage, the battery life of the smartphone is quite satisfactory. The standby time of the battery is 11 days. There is a Power Manager menu in the smartphone, which makes you able to save the excessive loss of battery power.

In our analysis, the Huawei Ascend P2 is a good smartphone. Though it has no USP s, other than the fastest performance, we could say that the device does not have any major drawbacks. The minute drawbacks it has is the absence of the SD card slot and the peculiar design. The camera and video quality of the smartphone is also average. In short, though there is nothing different and stunning in this smartphone, it can be listed as one of the good smartphones that belongs to mid range price tag.

• Good display clarity.
• Faster Performance.
• Good specs.
• Premium design.

• No SD card slot.
• Poor RAM.
• Power and Volume buttons tricky to operate.
• Average Battery Life.
• Nothing Unique.
