Micromax has created quite a hype for its new Canvas Turbo by showing off the Wolverine. The initial reports show that the strategy of the company has been successful as so many viewers were stunned to see Hugh Jackman as the brand ambassador of the brand. The company has released a new trailer with Hugh Jackman promoting the device. But the question is, whether the device is as good as the company is trying to popularize? Read here a detailed review and we will know.
Before going to the detailed review, lets quickly call back the key features of the Canvas Turbo. The device has a 5 inches Full HD display, 1.5 GHz quad core processor, 2 GB RAM, 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera. There is a 2000 mAh battery to power up the device. There is a 16 GB internal storage capacity. The device is running on Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean OS. Now, let's check its features in detail.
Design:
The aluminium build smartphone as pretty good looks. The company has won in giving it a premium look. But one of the main drawback of the device is that the rear side is non removable. And the users will not be able to remove the battery. The device is slim enough to slide nicely in to your pockets and you will not slip the device as it has good grips. In short, design vice, the company has done justice to the smartphone.
Display:
The Micromax Canvas Turbo has a 5 inch display, with IPS panel display technology. The technology is called CGS (Continuous Grain Silicon Screen). The display screen looks good and produces good display with good colours and brightness. The auto brightness mode does a good job in producing vivid colours with crisp images. The display has a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. Under direct sunlight too, the display will not disappoint you. The LED notification and Touch are smooth and flawless.
Processor and performance:
There is a 1.5 GHz quad core processor to power up Micromax Canvas Turbo smartphone. The CPU is coupled with a PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU. The device works faster and the performance is good. Apps and games get loaded pretty fast and the device will ensure that you are getting a good browsing experience too. The gaming experience is pretty impressive.
There is a new feature called iFloat. This app enables you to have an easy access to the most frequently used apps from anywhere on the device. You do not need to come to the home screen to get it.
OS and Features:
The Micromax Canvas Turbo smartphone is running on Android Jelly Bean OS. There are some good features coming along with the OS. They are, ability to answer a call by simply placing the phone on ear, flip to silent, flip over to activate loud speaker, place the phone on ear to make a call, slide hand over the screen to unlock, save battery with auto screen off, wave to take picture, blow/shake to unlock, etc.
The device allows you to watch two videos at same time. The Canvas Turbo has BBM for messaging. Other than the above mentioned and pre loaded apps, there are so many apps that comes with Canvas Turbo. Some of them are: Spuul to watch free movies, Kingsoft Office, M!Security for anti-theft and anti-virus protection, M!Live etc.
Storage:
Micromax Canvas Turbo has a 2GB of RAM. There is another 16 GB internal storage facility too. The RAM ensures better performance of the smartphone. But on the cons side, the device does not have a micro SD card slot. Out of the 2GB RA, 1.5 GB is available for the users. Out of the 16 GB, 0.98 is reserved for pre loaded apps. The user can avail only 12 GB internal memory. Considering the act that the device lacks an SD card slot, the memory is not satisfactory.
Camera:
Micromax Canvas Turbo smartphone comes with a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera. The company has improved the camera features for the Canvas Turbo, from Canvas 4, the previous flagship phone from Micromax. Some new features are seen with the Canvas Turbo. Here, you can have not only the horizontal panorama, but vertical too. The burst mode in Canvas Turbo can click up to 99 images.
There is another feature which enables the user to take 360 degree panorama, which is introducing for the first time in a Micromax device. You can convert a video in to a GIF by animating any object. You can erase an unwanted object from your image. All these features sound interesting.
Battery:
Battery is the main concern thing here. Taking into consideration the display, RAM, camera features and UI, the Canvas Turbo will be running on poor battery life. There is only a 2000 mAh battery to support the device, which is, obviously, an insufficient one. Adding extra blow to it, the battery of Canvas Turbo is non removable. So, the user will have to travel with an “attached charger” always.
Price and Verdict:
Keep away the battery worry and you have a wonderful phone here. The hardware and the innards of the smartphone are too impressive. The build and design are stylish and gives a premium look to the device. Though the device is officially priced a bit higher, you can own one under RS. 19,500/- from some online shops. But taking in to consideration the specs of the smartphone, we feel that the device is highly priced. Though the features are impressive, there are nothing whooping in this smartphone. Might be because we expected more seeing Mr. Wolverine with the phone. Any ways, do leave your comment below.
Pros:
• Good build quality.
• Dual SIM support.
• Good display with 1080p Full HD.
• Powerful processor to ensure faster performance.
• Good RAM.
Cons:
• Insufficient internal memory.

Above all, its a great pricing from Micromax. See, it's not the same Micromax that started years before. They have come up. Now they are delivering better quality devices and at such affordable price tags. Also the technical specifications such as 13 MP rear and 5 MP front cams, Quad-core 1.5 GHz cpu, 5 inch screen, and 2 GB RAM look awesome at this price.
Only Micromax can deliver like this.
