4G Technology and Top 4G Mobile Contenders in India

A short review on 4G technology and the best 4G mobile phones available in India.

The next generation of internet connectivity is now a reality in many parts of India. Even as new 4G mobiles appear in the markets today, it’s time that customers keep updated on what kind of technology will be available to them shortly. Before we move on to the different 4G devices up for grabs in India, let me begin with a short introduction to the technology itself.

4G is in fact the short form for Fourth Generation internet. It is the fourth generation of mobile telecommunications technology which is aimed at faster data transfers online. The average 3G internet transfers data at speeds ranging from 400kbps to 4000kbps. However, the 4G connectivity promises peak rates of up to 1Gbps. However, in practical cases, the predecessors of the 4G networks - Mobile WiMax and LTE have shown to be little short of the 1Gbps as benchmarked by the International Telecommunications Union, a standard body based in Geneva, Switzerland.

Most Telecom companies globally had already developed faster and more efficient versions of the 3G internet service by 2008. 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project), Mobile WiMax (IEEE 802.16), LTE (Long Term Evolution) and Ultra Mobile Broadband (UMB) are the forerunners to the 4G technology.

Bharati Airtel was the first Telecom service provider in India to offer its customers a first glimpse of 4G internet connectivity through in Kolkata on 10th April 2012. And recently 4G mobile services were introduced in Bangalore. With these developments, the need for 4G services to be introduced in atleast 100 major cities across India has arisen.

4G internet connectivity will open up numerous possibilities in terms of video streaming, faster uploads and downloads, 3D television, holographic gaming and high definition visuals. The power usage would definitely be higher than the existing networks but the quality of services and the heightened internet experience will surpass such concerns.
