Nokia Abu Dhabi Event Summary

New Nokia Devices Launched.

The world had been anticipating something new from Nokia since it had announced the Abu Dhabi event. Well, it seems like they did not disappoint the fans. The company introduced two phablets, one tablet and three Asha smartphones. Let's go through the details.



The Abu Dhabi event is so important for the company as it would be the last event hosted by them before completing its take over. Microsoft has agreed to buy Nokia and which will be getting in to the final stage by the early weeks of 2014.

Nokia's former Chief Executive Stephen Elop admitted that choosing Windows Phone OS rather than Android OS has brought immense challenges to the company. "It's been hard. It's a very difficult challenge; it's a very competitive environment, but we're pleased with the fact that we're building momentum," he said.

Nokia Lumia 1520 and Lumia 1320

Nokia Phablets:

Nokia World showed up two new phablets in their Abu Dhabi event. Dubbed Lumia 1520 and Lumia 1320, both the phablets pack a 6 inch display screen. There will be an extra row of live tiles in their home screen. As per the claims of the company, this extra space will be giving extra space for the touch screen key board, which will be useful for business users.

There would be a Beamer, which would stream the contents of the screen to a web browser on a separate display. There would be a new feature called the Refocus, which will allow the users to change the focus in an already taken picture.

The key features of Nokia Lumia1520 are:

First Tablet:

Lumia 2520 became the first Tablet from the company. And it is the only Windows RT tablet made by a manufacturer other than the Microsoft themselves. This Lumia tablet becomes different from that of the Microsoft by adding space for a 4G SIM.

Three more Ashas:

Nokia launched three more Asha smartphones/ featurephones in the Abu Dhabi event. Dubbed Asha 500, 502 and 503, they enlarges the Asha list from the company to some more extend. These three are low end handsets. They run on Series 40 OS other than Windows Phone OS.
