Sony's flagship smartphone of 2014, the Xperia Z2 has finally reached the Indian shores. The lastest device under the Xperia Z tag and successor of Xperia Z1, will be available for Rs.49,990 in Indian markets starting May 12th. The Xperia Z2 comes with IP55/IP58 rating for dust and water resistance. Available in 3 different colors Black, White and Purple, it will be bundled along with the Sony SmartBand fitness tracker band initially, for free. Sony is also bundling 6 free HD movies for download, one full-HD cricket game, and 3 months Bigflix subscription, apart from a Sony original case worth Rs. 2,990 for free.
Sony Xperia Z2 sports a 5.2 inch full-HD Triluminous display with X-Reality engine. It is powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor with Adreno 330 GPU coupled with 3 GB RAM. Xperia Z2 runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Xperia UI running on top. A major attraction is the 20.7 MP rear camera equipped with Sony's own Exmor RS sensor which is capable of 4K (Ultra-HD) video recording. It also offers a 2.2 MP front-facing camera.
It is said that the Xperia Z2 model launched in India does not support the country's 4G/ LTE bands. Other Connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi hotspot functionality, DLNA, GPS with A-GPS, Bluetooth v4.0, NFC, FM radio with RDS, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
