Through the Canvas win phones, Microsoft, Micromax and Qualcomm are brought together. The most interesting feature of the phones is that they are coming with price tag, following the legacy of the Micromax. The Canvas Win phones would be the cheapest Windows phones released till date. Micromax is well known for releasing pocket friendly smartphones. When it combines with the latest sensational OS – the Windows, there are definitely some wonders to look forward.

Micromax Windows Phones

Windows OS became popular with the Lumia series, and one of the major factors that kept Indian away from it was the price tag. Micromax is releasing the Canvas Win phones at a very budget friendly price tag. Both handsets will be available on retail shelves in India from early July. Micromax Win 121 is priced at 9500/- and the Canvas W092 is priced at 6500/- Indian rupees.

Micromax Canvas Win 121 has a more plasticky look than its sibling. It is more slim and has a bit more stylish look than its twin brother. It has a bigger display with 5 inch screen, with HD display. The user interface and the touch sensitivity are extremely good in both the phones, which is the trade mark of all Windows operated smartphones. There is an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash support and a 2 MP front camera for the selfies and video callings.

Canvas Win W092:

Micromax Canvas Win W092, at the first look, resembles the design of a normal touch screen smartphone under 10K. It has a plastic monoblack body. Owing much similarities with the Nokia Asha series, the device has a transparent material covering all the all the four edges. This gives the handset a crystal finish look. The device has a 4 inch WVGA IPS display, with a pixel clarity of 480x800 pixels. The camera features of the device include a 5 MP rear camera and a 0.3 MP front camera. The rear camera has LED support.

Common features:

Power button is situated on the right side of the smartphone, just like the Lumias, but the volume rocker is on the left side. The Micro USB port and headphone jacks are located at the top of the phones, leaving the bottom plain. Both the Canvas Win smartphones support dual sim and they have removable back panels.

Peculiarities of the OS:

As both the devices will be running on Windows Phone 8.1 OS, some new features are available. The major one is the notification centre, which Nokia calls ‘the action centre”. It is the same drop down slide, which shows the notifications and four other shortcuts for the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Camera and Display Brightness. The Data Sense app and the new Word Flow keyboard with Swype style, Xbox Games, Microsoft Office, Skype, HERE Maps etc will be there in both the Canvas Win smartphones.
As mentioned above, the Canvas Win smartphones have the support from Qualcomm. Both the smartphones have a 1.2 GHz quad core processor, which ensures faster and better performance. Both have 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage memory and an external memory expandable up to 32GB.

Though there had been news that Microsoft has united with Micromax and will be releasing budget friendly Windows Phones, it is true that the tech world did not expect that they will come with two different handsets with such an affordable price and with the latest OS. As far as the growth of Micromax is concerned, it is a really bold movement. Being the first Windows phone manufacturers in India, their market is just gonna shoot up. Taking things from the point of view of Microsoft, with the help of Micromax, they are stepping into the common and middle/low class consumers. That will increase the popularity of the product.
