IMEI Number: Things You Need to Know

All the details you need to know about IMEI number

So many times we had heard about IMEI number. What is IMEI number of a phone? How can we get the number? Is the number same for same model phones? What is the use of the number? All these are questions even multitudes still do not know. Here we are giving all details that you should know about IMEI number.

IMEI Number

First of all, What is IMEI number? The full form of IMEI is The International Mobile Station Equipment Identity. It is a unique number used to identify a particular mobile phone and some satellite phones. As we said, the number will be unique. No phone will have IMEI number same.

IMEI Number

How can we get the number is the second question. Well, it is quite simple. The number will be written under the battery of your phone. If you are using a smartphone, the number will be written in the settings session. Whichever phone you might be using, there is an easiest way to find out the number. Simply dial *#06# on your phone and a number will be shown on the screen. You don’t have to call to the number. Just clicking the keys will give you the number. Note down the number. You might need it sometimes.

What is the use of the number might be the question popping up in your head. The IMEI number is used by a GSM network to identify valid devices. So, it can be used for stopping a stolen phone from accessing that network. To make it simple, imagine that somebody has lost his phone. The person can call his or her network provider and request them to "blacklist" the phone using its IMEI number. Blacklisting the phone means, the phone will be made useless on that network and sometimes other networks too, whether or not the phone's SIM is changed. So, even if the thief changes the SIM and tries to use some another, he will not be able to use. The phone will be dead. Sounds great no?

IMEI Number

Many countries have acknowledged the use of the IMEI in reducing the effect of mobile phone theft. In some countries, under the Mobile Telephones Act, changing the IMEI of a phone, or possessing equipment that can change it, is considered an offence under some circumstance.

IMEI Number

You will need this number to track your mobile phone, if it is stolen. So, note down the IMEI number and keep it safe for future. Do not hesitate. Do not give a future room for regret.

Prevention is better than cure!

Best of luck!
