Design and Build - The Yureka Plus sports the same look as its predecessor the Yu Yureka. If both devices were placed side-by-side you are sure to make a mistake distinguishing them. The minimalistic look has been maintained in the front which is complimented by the 'moonstone grey' back panel. The front is simple except for the outline pattern of the home button. The Back and the Menu button doesn't have any printed icons but all of them light up when the screen is active. The edges are slightly projecting thus protecting the device from cuts and scratches.
The dual-SIM slots are accessible by removing the battery. The power and volume controls can be reached easily on the sides. The Micro-USB is positioned on the bottom and headset sockets on the top.
The rear side spots a light blue printed logo. The camera and the flash are positioned in one corner and the small speaker grille runs across the bottom.
Display - The Yu Yureka Plus comes with a 5.5 inch screen with a screen resolution of 1280x720 pixels. The screen comes in with great viewing angles with the required amount of brightness that doesn’t cause any strain to the eyes. Increasing the screen resolution from HD to full HD improves the pixel density to 401ppi as well. Clearly can say that one of the most affordable handsets in the country with 1080p display.
Even under direct sunlight the screen looks crisp and clear. With the oleophobic coating the screen remains smudge-free. You will have an enriching experience of viewing HD movies and the pictures also looks good in spite of minor saturation problems. The display of the device is sharp and gives accurate color details.
Performance and Software - The powerful octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with Adreno 405 GPU will help you multi-tasking like a pro. The giant processor enables the user to switch between multiple apps, play HD games or even watch HD movies with no sluggishness. Although graphics slowed down a bit on some rare instances.
The Cyanogen 12 OS on the Yu Yureka Plus runs on Android 5.0.2. The OS is highly customizable. Features such as lock screen, pull-down bar, notification drawer can be adjusted according to our preferences.
Camera and Memory - Yu Yureka Plus has revamped its specs when it comes to the camera. While the Yureka used the older Sony IMX135 sensor, the Yureka Plus has the newer IMX214 sensor. The rear camera features a 13 MP lens and a front camera of 5 MP with 71- degree wide viewing angle lens for the perfect groupies. The HDR mode offers great picture quality as well. Video recording is decent with the slight exception of low-light shooting.
There are also buttons for quick video, photo and panorama shots along with a flash selector.
The device comes with an internal memory of 16 GB and an external expandable one of 64 GB. The 2GB RAM allows you easy multitasking. With this memory specifications you can store everything you want on your smartphone, whether it be HD movies, games, music or anything.
Battery - The battery capacity may however be disappointing as the Yu Yureka Plus comes with only 2,500mAh battery. Apparently the company claims that they Cyanogen 12 OS will save the battery life to a full day with a regular use. But during power performances the battery seems to drain off soon.
The Yu Yureka Plus is the groundbreaking example of how a budget smartphone should be like. The device clearly shows what it is capable of with the given specs and features. With the Cyanogen OS 12 it shows to the world how a good OS can improve the entire smartphone experience. The splendid full HD display and the improved camera features are an incentive to buy this device.
If the Yu Yureka Plus had featured a battery with more capacity then we could have called this the ideal device under the Rs. 10,000 category.
