ZTE Blade3- A Short Review

ZTE's new budget friendly smartphone Blade3 is officially announced.

After its Blade and Blade2, ZTE has brought forth its Blade3 version of smartphones. It is a comparatively budget friendly Android smartphone with cut down pack of facilities. The main features of the phone are as given below:

ZTE Blade3

Design and Exterior:

With the measurements of 120.5×63.5×10.85mm and a weight of 130g, ZTE Blade3 is well built, without providing any room for a loose grip. The well balanced finished reduces the chance of dropping the handset. Though it is plastic finished, the rubberised rear and curved edges provide more grip. On the top side, there is the head phone jack and an easily accessible power on/off/lock button. Down side the phone, there rests the volume control panel and USB port. Under the 4-inch display you'll find four touch buttons used to navigate around the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

Display:

Blade3 has 4-inch screen with 480×800 WVGA display which is a capacitive touch screen. There are nine different home screens available for the device. All the applications in the home screen works promptly as per your command. Something ZTE has added to the Ice Cream Sandwich interface is the quick settings bar in the pull down notification window. That allows you to quickly and easily toggle features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS without having to dive into the settings menu. The lock screen on the Blade 3 has six short cuts present in it, which allows you to jump into dedicated apps right from the off which some will find very useful.

CPU and Performance:

The device is backed up with 1 GHz Qualcomm MSM7227A (single core) Snapdragon CPU and Adreno200 GPU. It has Accelerometer, proximity, compass sensors too.

Operating System:

The device runs on OS Android OS, v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

Camera:

The ZTE Blade3 comes with a rear camera of 5MP. Unfortunately, the rear camera is missing a flash. that means you'll want to avoid low lighting photo shoot. But the shutter speed is good. There's also a 4x digital zoom built into the camera on the Blade 3, which will give you a close up blurry shot.

Internet and Connectivity:

For its connectivity, the Blade3 features 2G NETWORK GSM 900/1800 /1900, 2G NETWORK GSM 900/1800 /1900, GPRS, EDGE, Speed HSDPA 7.2 Mbps; HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, WLAN Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, DLNA Yes, v2.1 with A2DP, Bluetooth, microUSBv2.0 and GPS with A-GPS support via Java MIDP emulator.

Storage:

The ZTE Blade3 has 512 RAM, 4GB internal storage (2.5 GB user available) and also an expandable memory up to 32 GB with the help of microSD card.

Battery:

Under the removable back cover of the phone., you can see the microSD slot and removable 1,600mAh battery. That will provide you with a whole day's charge, as per the claims of the company.

Price:

The device has been selling in Chinese market at $69, with an additional top up. It is about to cost nearly 5000/- Indian rupees on a rough average.

Verdict:

It is definitely tricky to say no to such a low budget smartphone with not that light weighted specs details. For a smartphone of this ranged price tag, ZTE Blade3 will be doing a good job. But for a customer with more heavy pocket, these cut down facilities will be a taboo.

Pros:

Very budget friendly.
Decent screen.
Smooth operation.

Cons:
Below average key board.
No flash light.
Poor camera.
Poor internal memory.
