Have a look at Samsung’s new budget smartphone, Galaxy Young

Samsung has recently announced the launching of two budget friendly smartphones, Galaxy Young and Galaxy Fame. Both the phones seem like a cut down version of Samsung Galaxy SIII. The Samsung Galaxy Young will be arriving in different colour variations like White, Deep Blue, Wine Red and Metallic Silver. The company is yet to reveal the price and releasing date of the phones. There are no hints whether these phones will be available in India or not. The phone will be coming to market with yet another variation- Dual SIM –if there is a demand from the customers- says the company. Though the price of these two devices are not yet revealed, according to rumours, it will be in and around 10,000/- Indian rupees.

Design and Exterior:

Set to be available in different colour variations like White, Deep Blue, wine Red and Metallic silver, the Samsung Galaxy Young has the measurements- 109.4×58.6×12.5 mm. The device has a weight if 112g.

Samsung Galaxy Young has a 3.27 inches LCD screen, which has a pixel size of Size 320×480 pixels and 176 ppi pixel density. The screen of Samsung Galaxy Young has TFT capacitive multi touchscreen. It can support 256K colours.

CPU and Performance:

The device runs on the platform of a single cored, 1GHz Clock Speed Processor. The device has no GPU.

The Samsung Galaxy Young is supported by Android Operating System. It features version v4.1.2, which is other wise known as the Jelly Bean OS.

Unlike the other smartphones of the company, Samsung Galaxy Young comes with a single camera. The rear camera has 3.15 MP capacity with 2048×1536 pixels. The camera has Geo Tagging feature. The camera is accompanied by an LED flash light. It has VGA Video recording capacity at @24fps

For its connectivity, the device supports 2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 – GT-S6310 and GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 – GT-S6312 (SIM 1 & SIM 2), 3G Network HSDPA 900 / 2100, GPRS, EDGE, Speed HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps; HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps, WLAN Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth v3.0 with A2DP and microUSB v2.0. The phone also supports GSM with frequency of 1900, 1800, 900, 850 and UMTS with 900, 2100 frequencies supported.

Storage:

Samsung Galaxy Young has 768 MB RAM, 4GB internal memory, and expandable external memory up to 64 GB which can be expanded with the support of microSD card.

Battery:

The device is powered by a battery of Li-Ion 1300 mAh. The standby time and talk time of the battery are yet to be explored.

Price:

The exact price of Samsung Galaxy Young has not been revealed by the company. Yet, it is rumoured to carry a price tag of around 10,000/- Indian Rupees. The company has not declared whether the device will make its launch in India or not.

Verdict:

Samsung, beyond any doubt, is the leading smartphone manufacturer in the world. They should know the pulse of the market. They might have foreseen that, with a budget low price tag, the smartphones will reach all over the world, despite the thickness of people's pockets. As per the company's expectations, Galaxy Young could be a yet another trend setter. But if you are a person who is not unwilling to pay for decent features, this device will not be your cup of tea.
