HTC One Mini – an Early Preview

The miniature of the flagship HTC One is here!

It has become the trend in the current smartphone market to build a miniature version of the giant flagship smartphones. From Apple and Samsung to Micromax, this trend is becoming popular. The latest to join this group is the HTC. The company as announced the scaled down version of their flagship smartphone- the HTC One. Dubbed HTC One Mini, the smartphone had been in the rumour mill for quite a long time by now. All the word had been waiting for the officials to open their zipped mouth about the HTC One Mini smartphone, and here it comes.

The officially announced spec sheet of the smartphone is more or less similar to the one spread by the rumour mongers. The smartphone will be coming with a 4.3 inches display screen, with 1280×720 pixels resolution and 341 ppi pixel density. We will have to keep in mind that the HTC One Mini is the “scaled down” version of the HTC One smartphone. So, there is no point in expecting the same stunning features of the HTC One, as the Mini versions always have to compromise certain things to ship in such a low price than the original ones.

HTC One Mini

In its looks and design, the HTC One Mini looks exactly like the leaked image. The screen size and the entire build of the smartphone is smaller than the HTC One smartphone. Comparing the two, it is not that easy that one would differentiate the Mini from the original big one. But on a closer scrutiny, the differences can be spotted out. The signature design, the BoomSound speakers, are a bit smaller in the Mini. The difference in the edges and the back side of the phone will come to our notice on a detailed recheck. The back side of HTC Mini phone is aluminum and te sides and the front edges are made up of polycarbonate. Though it lessens the charm and the premium elegant look of the bigger brother, it still saves the classic look.

All the buttons and ports are there in the same position as in the HTC One. You will see the micro USB port at the bottom of the smartphone and the micro SIM slot on the left side, just like the HTC One smartphone. There is a small change in the volume rocker. Not that the place has changed, but it has two different buttons for increasing and decreasing the volume, instead of a single button. The power button and the headphone jacks are there on the top of the HTC One Mini smartphone.

Though the screen size of the Mini is smaller than the HTC One, the brightness and the clarity of the smartphone is not even a step down to the flagship smartphone. At 720p S-LCD3 panel, HTC One Mini will not disappoint you for sure. The HTC One Mini will be coming with Android 4.2.2 operating system. Te smartphone will be coming with dual cameras. There will be an Ultra Pixel 4MP camera on the rear side of the phone and a 1.6MP camera on the front. The rear camera will be powered with BSI, f/2.0 and 1/3-inch sensor. But there will not be any optical image stabilization. Instead, there will be so many other features like different levels of flash intensity, 2µm pixel size etc. The camera features include ImageChip 2, Zoe, slow-mo video capture and Video Highlights.

On the interior side, the HTC One Mini smartphone has a 1.4GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor with the support of 1GB RAM. The internal storage memory of the smartphone is 16 GB. On the cons side, the smartphone does not have expandable memory. There is no microSDcard slot. The users will have to be satisfied with the 16GB internal memory. The phone does not have NFC support either. The HTC One Mini will be powered by a 1,800mAh battery, which is smaller than that of the HTC One.

The dual core processor is a bit disappointing. We know that even quad core processors are getting out dates and octa core era is on its way. The dual core processor will not be performing that briskly as the quad core in the HTC One smartphone. But, if we stop comparing the dual with the quad, the performance of the One Mini is above average. There are no lags and no delays. But when it comes to the camera app, we will have to be concerned. The features of the camera was superb in the HTC One, wing much to the quad core processor. We will have to wait and see the performance of the HTC One Mini camera.
