Meizu Pro 5: The best and the worst of it.

Meizu Pro 5 with 5.7-inch 1080p display, 4GB RAM and USB Type-C

Meizu on Wednesday has launched their latest flagship the Meizu Pro 5 in Beijing. We have noted below a few hits and misses of this flagship from Meizu. The device is clocked at Octa-Core Samsung Exynos 7420 processor with Mali T760 GPU on board. The Meizu Pro 5 comes in Gray, Silver, Silver Black, Golden colors at a price of 2,799 Yuan (approx Rs. 28,900) for 3GB RAM variant and 3,099 Yuan (approx Rs. 32,000) for the 4GB RAM variant.

Display - The major attraction of the smartphone is its 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1920x1080 pixels along with 2.5D glass. The screen has been layered with Corning's Gorilla Glass 3 for extra protection. The screen has an 88-degree viewing angle.

Design and Build - The premium handset adorns an all-metallic curved design and measures just 7.5mm. Weighing at 168 grams the Meizu Pro 5 looks much similar to the Apple iPhone 6.

Fingerprint scanner - The mTouch 2.1 fingerprint scanner comes embedded on the home screen as how it is in the Meizu MX 5.

Camera - The Meizu Pro 5 flaunts a 21.6 megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED Flash, Laser Auto focus, 4K video recording and comes with 5 megapixel front camera on board.

Performance - The Meizu Pro 5 is powered by an octa-core Samsung's Exynos 7420 processor with Mali T760 GPU on board which is coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32 GB of in-built storage/ 4GB of RAM space and 64 GB of internal memory. Both of which can be expandable via micro SD card.

Battery - The smartphone comes with a bigger 3050mAh battery. But the powerful octa-core processor on board along with the 5.7-inch Super Amoled display takes maximum battery power. The battery life is not as how we had expected.

Hybrid SIM - The dual-SIM Meizu Pro 5 has no separate slot for micro SD card. It means you have to choose between either the dual-SIM technology or extra storage space.

No FM Radio - No facility for an FM Radio may however be a set back. But with the umpteen number of music streaming apps available in the App market one can easily stream FM from all over the world.
